Hi, I am Deborah Hicks Midanek Bailey, owner of First & Green Celebrations, and I am pleased to welcome you to our historic establishment.
Our First & Green team is varied in background and experience, but we have one thing in common: we each go above and beyond to help our guests create indelible memories of their milestone events
Everybody wins that way, especially our guests.
Well known for his work in his day job as the warehouse manager for Ashley’s Furniture, Eugene brings a wide range to First & Green, where he oversees our facilities. His work as a pastor, a store owner, a lumberjack, a home builder, an insurance agent, and a host of other roles, informs his philosophy: in any job, learn the task, perform the task properly, add speed and efficiency to its execution, and then learn something new.
A native of Honduras, brought her son Ruben to New Orleans on a rickety boat when he was 6. Wiped out once by fire and once by Katrina, Ely made a home in Grenada. It took her 10 years, but she gained both green card and citizenship for herself and Ruben, who scavenged for every scholarship dollar he could find, including money from Deborah and Coley Bailey’s Prevail Fund, earned both an undergraduate and a graduate degree from MSU, and is employed by Deloitte. Ely, now both homeowner and landlord, teaches English as a Second Language, and keeps First & Green clean. She also manages our linens.
Katrina leads our service team as well as our social media activities. A partner in Diamondback Productions and a talented artist and graphic designer, Katrina has created the look and feel of a number of businesses and events in Grenada. A published author and prize winning filmmaker, Katrina is a co-founder and Executive Producer of Grenada Afterglow Film Festival. She is a board member of Grenada Community Foundation and a member of the Downtown Innovation District Association Steering Committee. She is also part of management team at Wild Blue Yonder Resale on the other side of the Square. A lifelong vegetarian, Katrina also knows more about our lighting system than anyone else.
Isabella wears many hats and looks great in all of them. She loves to serve guests and is discovering the joys of coming for them. A long time vegan, Belle is a CrossFit Champion, won the Business Plan Competition sponsored by Mississippi Development Authority, was a finalist in the Warren Buffet Young Millionaire contest, is a filmmaker and partner in Diamondback Productions and co-founder and Executive Producer of Grenada Afterglow Film Festival. She is a board member of Grenada Community Foundation and a member of the Downtown Innovation District Association Steering Committee. She is also part of management team at Wild Blue Yonder Resale on the other side of the Square.
Mason provides all kinds of guest services. Soon to graduate as a pre-med student at Mississippi College, Mason, a lifelong competition dancer with a beautiful voice, dances and sings his way though the hard work of setting up the venue and cleaning EVERYTHING. And he has a beautiful smile. We hope he returns to Grenada following medical school as we all want him to care for us as patients. Mason is kind, through and through, and very attentive.
