We are proud that events at First & Green have created so many indelible memories for our guests. When you book your event with us, we walk you through venue selection, the process of developing your menus and catering plans, developing your bar plans, if any, and being sure that all details have been covered. We’ll help you plan with direct support from our team - from timelines to menus to selecting vendors that fit your vision.
A Letter from Deborah
“First & Green is a beautiful place, but what brings it alive is the team of people who work here and the guests we are privileged to serve.
I came to Grenada, Mississippi for love, from my home in New York. I met my husband, Coley Bailey, when he was Chairman of Mississippi Chemical, and I was advisor to the board. He was a cotton farmer from- you guessed it- Grenada, or actually, Yalobusha County. After our work was done, he allowed as how he might like to see me socially, and here I am, delighted to be here.
In Grenada, I fell in love again; this time with the beautiful historic buildings around the downtown square, the emotional heart of Grenada. I wanted to bring the area back to life, starting at the corner of First and Green Streets. Our Main Hall was built in 1867, and served as Grenada Hardware for nearly 150 years. I purchased the neglected building in 2013 and set out on a massive undertaking; painstakingly renovating, while maintaining and restoring historic beams, floors, bookshelves and the original hand-cranked elevator. It was a labor of love. In 2014, our vision of creating a special place that brings people together became a reality.
Over the years, I’ve done this with 22 buildings, and ignited the renewal of an all but abandoned and derelict downtown. Our facilities now include a variety of venues, each with its own sense of history and offering a place to celebrate any occasion. First & Green Celebrations is more than a collection of venues. Our small team is committed to creating experiences that translate into lifelong memories. It’s what we love to do.”
